Gotti has been universally panned (Picture: Brian Douglas/Lionsgate/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock)
Poor John Travolta.
His latest film Gotti has just been released, and it doesn’t look like it will be receiving The People Vs OJ Simpson/Pulp Fiction acclaim.
The mob film has been completely panned by critics upon its release – so much so it has received a rather rare honour.
Gotti – which chronicles the reign of crime boss John Gotti, played by Travolta – has received a 0% rotten rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, earning it a place among the worst… Read the full story
Gotti was slated by critics and bosses have hit back (Picture: Rex Features)
John Travolta’s latest movie Gotti hit screens earlier this month, and critics were not impressed.
It’s a biopic that follows the life of notorious gangster John Gotti who became the head of the Gambino family in New York.
But in brutally honest reviews, it appears that the film did not go down well with its viewers, as they titled the flick a ‘shit show’ and said it didn’t do the ‘mob boss’ justice.
In 1978, Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson flew off into the horizon in a suped-up car named Greased Lightning.
And 40 years on, they’ve still got the moves.
Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta reunited in Los Angeles for a 40th anniversary screening of Grease, and our hearts are full of joy.
The Grease co-stars looked in high spirits as they proved they remember their routines from the classic musical, busting out some moves in the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre.
Olivia, 69, looked as youthful as ever, opting for innocent Sandy vibes (rather than bad girl, catsuit and stiletto style) in a pink silk vest, a blazer and pearl-studded slip-on shoes.
Olivia and John have still got the moves (Picture: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic)
They go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong (Picture: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic)
Meanwhile, her leading man Travolta, 64, looked dapper in a shirt under a sweater, a blazer and jeans.
The pair, who have remained close since their star turns in Grease, happily posed for pictures with their arms around each other as they marked four decades since the film’s release.
Sandy and Danny – we mean Olivia and John – were joined by Didi Conn, aka Frenchy, Barry Pearl, who played Doody, and director Randal Kleiser for the nostalgic event.
Grease was an instant box office smash upon its release in 1978, and is the fourth highest grossing live-action musical in history (behind Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables and Beauty And The Beast).
Well, with a soundtrack including Hopelessly Devoted To You, Greased Lightning and You’re The One That I Want, what do you expect?

Didi told us: ‘I think they got away with it because Stockard is such a great actress. And I don’t know why, but the tougher kids in my high school in New York, they all looked older. Maybe because they were held back a lot. So I think she got away with it, because she was a senior and she was gonna rule the school.’
She also discussed recent backlash against the ending, which sees Sandy completely transform herself into ‘bad Sandy’ to grab Danny’s attention.
Didi said: ‘Olivia was a major superstar for being really good, pure, beautiful and sweet. But she had a bad mama in her, she had a red hot sexy mama in her, and she was ready for that part of her to come out. So when Sandy makes that transformation, it’s not to get Danny’s love as much as to get to expose that side of her.
‘So in that way, it was bringing out all of her, the hidden part. I think of it as the first makeover show. And Danny, too – he had shown her his sweet side when they met and then he covered it up to be the tough guy. So at the end, he’s just showing another part of himself, too. Sandy wasn’t trying to be someone else, she was trying to be herself.’

Kirstie admitted she didn’t want to leave her husband for John (Picture: Getty)
Celebrity Big Brother star Kirstie Alley – who came runner up in last week’s finale – has opened up on her relationship with John Travolta, and has denied the actor is gay.
The Grease star has long been plagued by allegations of the sort, but his close friend and former co-star Kirstie wants to set the record straight.
The two remain so close after starring in Look Who’s Talking and its sequel, they’re both two of the longest-serving members of the controversial Church of Scientology, while she also claims the neighbours share a hole in their joint fence so they can pop on over to one another’s mansion with ease.
Kirstie Alley claims she almost married John Travolta (Picture: Tri-Star)
Revealing the two had a strong connection in the 80s, but Kirstie was married to Parker Stevenson at the time, the actress said John ‘would agree it was mutual’ they ‘fell in love’ with one another.
‘I will say it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, the hardest decision I’ve ever made because I was madly in love with him — we were fun and funny together,’ she said, in an interview with The Sun.
Seems to be the right choice, however, as she added: ‘John and I would have devoured each other because John and I are so alike. It would be like two blazing stars that just fizzled out. John goes to bed at like four or five in the morning and wakes up at three in the afternoon.’
She was a popular member of the CBB house (Picture: Channel 5)
However, she said it wasn’t consummated and they weren’t sexual because she wasn’t going to cheat on her hubby.
But she says that it was worse as she ‘actually let herself fall in love with him and stay in love with him for a long time’.
When asked on his sexuality, Kirstie was adamant the man – who has been married to Kelly Preston since 1991 – was heterosexual.
On the question of whether she thought he was gay, she answered: ‘No I don’t. I mean, I know him pretty well — and I know the love…’
‘I almost ran off and married John Travolta,’ she casually declared, after recalling her kiss with Patrick Swayze, as you do.
‘I did love him; I still love him.’
She went on: ‘If I hadn’t have been married, I’d have gone and married him and it would have been in an aeroplane; and let me tell you girls, it doesn’t seem important when someone has a private jet, but it is.
‘As you get older you do not want to hang out at airports.’

John and Pitbull have the most unlikely friendship but we’re here for it (Picture: FilmMagic)
Who knew John Travolta was such a huge Pitbull fan? That’s the rapper, not the breed of dogs, FYI.
The legendary Grease actor has declared the International Love rapper one of the ‘greatest entertainers of all time’ and, frankly, it’s quite a bold statement to digest.
On hand to celebrate the special occasion with Pitbull was his bestie John, who revealed himself to a fan of the rapper’s music this summer.
John couldn’t have given a better speech if he tried (Picture: FilmMagic)
John, 64, graced the stage to introduce the rapper and couldn’t have been more complimentary in his speech.
The Hollywood actor said: ‘But today, I’m here because I have the privilege to help celebrate and welcome my amazing friend to that rareified group of artists that have the opportunity to make history to do this.
‘Armando Christian Perez, also known as Pitbull, is one of the greatest entertainers of all time, and one of the most impactful humanitarians in the world.’
Wowza. How do you follow that up?
Well, John wasn’t done with the praise as he continued: ‘I once told Armando that I wanted to be friends with him for the rest of my life and forever. Little did I know that we would be immortalised together at the Chinese theatre. Congratulations chico.’
One of the world’s greatest entertainers? (Picture: FilmMagic)
Chico? If that isn’t the cutest nickname.
John added: ‘It’s his world, it’s our world. Let’s turn it up! It’s my great pleasure to introduce Mr Worldwide, Armando Christian Perez, Pitbull!’
In his own speech, Pitbull told the audience: ‘Well, first of all, I want to say thank you John. I really appreciate it. Who would’ve ever thought that we would be putting our hands and feet together in cement immortalised in history.’
In June, John expressed his appreciation for Pitbull’s music and told Miami.com: ‘I listen to Pitbull. He is my man. I love my Pitbull… He wrote a beautiful song called Amore, which is at the opening and at the end of the film.’
This is a bromance we didn’t know we needed.

John Travolta no longer looks like this (Photo by Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic)
Forget the Danny Zuko pompadour, erase the slick Tony Manero quiff and wipe the Robert Shapiro hairpiece from your memory, because John Travolta is bald now, OK.
The 64-year-old debuted a completely hairless look on Monday as he shared pictures of his New Year celebrations with 18-year-old daughter Ella Bleu.
With a rugged salt and pepper beard, the actor looked seriously slick in a dinner jacket, bow tie and a Martini glass in hand and we are totally digging the Bruce Willis-bald.
Off-screen, the actor was sporting a fuller head of hair as recently as mid-December when he accompanied Pitbull – random – to his hands ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.
This Christmas, John and his wife Kelly Preston celebrated at home with their son Ben and daughter Ella and appeared to have hosted a family party for New Year.

However, much like Carrie Bradshaw, later that day we got to thinking – gosh darn John Travolta has sported a lot of hairstyles over the years.
If this was 2012 someone would probably compare his hair changes to Taylor Swifts dating life *snorts* but seriously, we’ve seen a lot of change of the past few decades when it comes to J-Trav’s barnet.
From the grease-up locks of, er, Grease, to the fluffy look of the late 80s and Look Who’s Talking era. To the slicked-back long strands of Pulp Fiction, chopping and changing over the years to a middle-parted, lighter ‘do that did little to distract from the fact he once called Idina Menzel Adele Dazeem.
The meme may have lived on unchanged, but the locks did something else.
Let’s take a walk down hairy lane and reminisce, shall we?
1975
The young gun in all his glory (Picture: Disney ABC Television Group)
John was an up and coming actor who had worked in a few films including The Devil’s Rain and was about to star in classic Carrie. It was two years before we’d be introduced to the lad properly in Saturday Night Fever and his career would never be the same.
Neither would his hair.
1978
Iconic (Picture: Paramount Pictures. All Rights Reserved)
The love affair begins: Grease.
Oh Danny!
Sorry, we’ll get to the point – the point being that John brought the slicked-style of the 50s into the 70s as he played Danny Zuko in the musical with the mostest.
Tell us about it, Stud.
1980
So. Much. Hair (Picture: Getty Images)
Urban Cowboy saw John let the hair descend all the way down to this chinny, chin, chin and we were here for it.
Pop on a cowboy hat and he’s really giving the growth a good go.
1983
He was staying alive and stylish with that hair do (Picture: Getty Images)
Starring as Tony Manero in Staying Alive, the actor sported a fluffy hairstyle most dudes were of that era. It was the thing to do. Channel a little Olivia NJ in Let’s Get Physical with the sweatband and you were good to go.
The more volume, the better, and John backcombed that baby like it was 1989. Sorry, we mean 1983.
1994
Just look at that blue steel. And the hair (Picture: Miramax Films)
Oh Vincent Vega, be still our beating heart and cover us in royales with cheese.
John got together with Samuel L Jackson and terrorised a whole bunch of people before jigging with Uma Thurman – all the while sporting one of the most magnificent slick-backs the nineties had seen.
To this day no one has done it better. Director Quentin Tarantino has tried, but just lacks whatever it was John was packing up top.
1996

Remember Michael?
John played the angel and he purely was an angel fallen from heaven with a return to the fluffy hair of the bygone era he wasn’t ready to leave on the hairdresser’s floor just yet.
2012
Savage. In so many ways (Picture: Universal Pictures)
The actor starred as corrupt DEA agent Dennis in Oliver Stone’s Savages.
There was nothing savage about his hair though as he gave us a peek into the future of what his bald head may look like sans hair. As bald heads are wont to do.
You can see the receding line (or is the magic and trickery of Hollywood, eh?) but really all we’re looking at here it Taylor Kitsch. Soz bout it.
2017
He’s GOTTI a new hairstyle. See what we did here? (Picture: Lionsgate Entertainment)
John starred as feared mobster John Gotti in the aptly-titled film, Gotti. It might have been panned by critics, but would you just get a look at John’s magnificent hair?
Sure the ‘do was based on someone else, but J gave it a little je nai sais quoi and silver foxed the shiz out of it, don’t you think?
2018
We can get behind this, we can (Picture: Image Press / BACKGRID)
Not keen to let go of the hair altogether just yet, the star continued to sport a wig or a toupee or extensions or something that meant he was getting about with a luscious mane.
Here is he at his hand and footprint ceremony in Los Angeles looking chuffed and well-haired.

Another new look we can love (Picture: INSTAGRAM)
Earlier this week the actor debuted a completely hairless look, as he shared pictures of his New Year celebrations with 18-year-old daughter Ella Bleu.
Not really drawing any attention to the hair, he wrote: ‘I hope everyone had a great New Year!’
We sure did, John. And this image had made it all the more better.
Here’s to 2019 and another 12 months of hair changes from the best in the bizz.

John, 64, thanked fans for the support as he flashed another glimpse of his shaved head underneath a snapback while he took his son Ben dirt biking like the ultimate cool dad.
In a selfie video, John said: ‘We’re dirt biking today and we just got the great news that it’s hit over a million followers on Instagram. We love you, we thank you.
‘And, er, also thanks for liking the new hair ‘do.’
The Grease actor’s social media followers have shot up ever since he unveiled his new hairstyle on Monday in a picture from New Year’s Eve.
His post was met with compliments like ‘keep this look,’ ‘hot’ and ‘more handsome than ever’ so it’s safe to say that it went down very well with his admirers.
Pictured beside his 18-year-old daughter Ella, it was the first time that John had ever embraced his natural image since pictures of his receding hairline back in 2011 hinted that he may be wearing wigs and toupees.
Ever since then, the actor has been seen sporting a variety of hairpieces for roles including American Crime Story, I Am Wrath and The Forger and even switched up his hairstyles a number of times for public appearances.
Nevertheless, since going bald, John seems to be making a pretty strong case for salt and pepper facial fuzz, making up for anything lacking up top with a very slick beard and moustache.
Here’s to the evolution of John Travolta’s facial hair in 2019.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson escapes Razzie Awards this year (Picture: REX/Razzies)
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has managed to escape the Razzie Awards this year, after famously winning one for his performance in Baywatch.
The film received some of the worst reviews leading the 2018 ceremony to create a ‘special’ category especially for the remake.
That’s right – they went and made the A Movie So Rotten You Eventually Fell in Love With It award, and handed over the prize to the former WWE star.
But it seems this year the 46-year-old has slipped through the net, leaving John Travolta to take his place.
Yes, the nominees for Worst Actor fall on John Travolta for Gotti, Johnny Depp (Voice Only) for Sherlock Gnomes, Will Ferrell for Holmes & Watson, Donald J. Trump (As Himself) for Death of a Nation and Fahrenheit 11/9 and Bruce Willis for Death Wish.
It seems John Travolta has taken The Rock’s place (Picture: Lionsgate Entertainment)

Kevin Connolly was put up for Worst Director next to Etan Cohen for Holmes & Watson, James Foley for Fifty Shades Freed, Brian Henson for The Happytime Murders and The Spierig Brothers (Michael and Peter) for Winchester.
And John went and made another appearance with his co-star Kelly Preston for Worst Screen Combo.
The Grease star will be battling it out for the award with Any Two Actors or Puppets (Especially in Those Creepy Sex Scenes) in The Happytime Murders; Johnny Depp and His Fast-Fading Film Career (He’s doing voices for cartoons, fer kripesakes!) in Sherlock Gnomes; And Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly (Trashing Two of Literature’s Most Beloved Characters) in Holmes & Watson.
Johnny Depp may also be making an appearance (Picture: REX)

However, Gotti did manage to miss out on Worst Actress, which holds the nominees: Jennifer Garner for Peppermint, Amber Heard for London Fields, Melissa McCarthy for The Happytime Murders and Life of the Party, Helen Mirren for Winchester, and Amanda Seyfried for The Clapper.
The movie also escaped the grasp of Worst Supporting Actor, with the nominees Jamie Foxx in Robin Hood, Ludacris (Voice Only) in Show Dogs, Joel McHale in The Happytime Murders, John C. Reilly in Holmes & Watson and Justice Smith in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

The 64-year-old and his new look made its first public debut after the actor revealed he has opted for a wigless life after hiding his hair loss for years.
The Saturday Night Fever actor took to the red carpet at Black Tie Gala at 3Labs in Culver City, California on 26 January.
And he looks electrifying. We don’t know if it’s new haircut – or lack off – or the brand new level of confidence that is multiplying, but it’s working for him.
Suits you, John (Picture: Rex Features)
Literally famed for his glossy locks in 1978’s Grease, the singer is definitely stepping into a new era as he matched his smoulder with a buttoned-down white shirt and black blazer.
The star shocked – yet delighted – fans earlier in January when he took to social media to give us all the first look of his glistening head top.
The Pulp Fiction star thanked fans for the support as he flashed another glimpse of his shaved head underneath a snapback while he took his son Ben dirt biking like the ultimate cool dad.

John Travolta took inspiration to go bald from his friend Pitbull (Picture: Getty / WireImage)
John Travolta shocked fans at the start of the year when he revealed his dramatic new hair cut.
The 64-year-old took to Instagram in a rare selfie with his daughter Ella Bleu, where he showed off his clean shaven head as he pouted into the camera.
But while we were all left wondering what sparked the brave decision, the Grease star has now opened up about shaving off his hair – and puts it all down to his BFF Pitbull.
Chatting to Extra, John said: ‘A good friend, Armando Perez, Pitbull — he lives his life like this.
Fans were shocked by the dramatic new look (Picture: Instagram)
‘He would send pictures of me where I have all my hair, and he’d superimpose no hair and say, “I prefer this,” so I thought … Maybe it’s time to do it.’
And he did.
Even though fans were left a little bit shocked by the cut, it seems the actor’s wife Kelly Preston is a huge fan, as John added: ‘She loves it… She has always loved the idea.’
Explaining how life has been a lot easier since going wigless, John joked about how he felt like Zoolander after the shave.
He told the publication: ‘The biggest fun has been just the response to it. I felt like Zoolander or something — I came out and my new look became headline news.
‘The only other time I was a leading story was when I mispronounced at the Oscars.’
He said Pitbull would superimpose no hair onto his head (Picture: FilmMagic)
Seems like Pitbull was right for him to shave his head.
The 38-year-old has struck up an unlikely friendship with John, who declared the rapper as one of the ‘greatest entertainers of all time’.
Quite the statement.
While the International Love hitmaker was being immortalised into the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood a traditional hand and footprint ceremony, John revealed he was a huge fan of Pitbull and praised him in a speech.
He said: ‘Today I’m here because I have the privilege to help celebrate and welcome my amazing friend to that rareified group of artists that have the opportunity to make history to do this.

Gotti – which chronicles the reign of crime boss John Gotti, played by Travolta – has received a 0% rotten rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, earning it a place among the worst rated films of all time.
So far, 18 reviews have been counted, and not one was fresh, giving Gotti a big old green splat of honour.
Sadly for John, this is third film to get a 0% rating, alongside Staying Alive and Look Who’s Talking Now!
Other films given the dubious honour include Jaws: The Revenge, Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, and The Nutcracker in 3D.
And looking at the reviews, it’s no wonder Gotti hasn’t received a higher rating.
Three of John’s films have been given 0% ratings (Picture: Kristin Callahan/ACE Pictures/REX/Shutterstock)
The New York Post’s reviewer Johnny Oleksinski called it ‘the worst mob movie of all time’ and wrote: ‘I’d rather wake up next to a severed horse head than ever watch Gotti again.’
The New York Times critic Glenn Kenny wrote: ‘That the long-gestating crime drama Gotti is a dismal mess comes as no surprise. What does shock is just how multifaceted a dismal mess it is.’
And Jordan Mintzer of the Hollywood Reporter said: ‘The film is pretty terrible: poorly written, devoid of tension, ridiculous in spots and just plain dull in others.’
At least we’ll always have Grease, eh?
Gotti – which also stars John’s wife Kelly Preston as Gotti’s spouse – has been in the works since 2010 when the rights were acquired, and has gone through four directors and 44 producers to get to the finished product.
Last year, its release was pushed back again when Lionsgate sold the film back to the studio just ten days before it was supposed to stream on demand. Gotti had its premiere in Cannes Film Festival.
While John will no doubt be dismayed at the reviews, the 64-year-old is currently filming a very interesting-looking project called Moose, which is directed by Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst.

Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a 0 rating, and the New York Post said they’d: ‘rather wake up next to a severed horse head than ever watch Gotti again.’
They told people to watch it for themselves and make up their own minds (Picture: Rex Features)
Rolling Stone said in its review: ‘Starring in this mobster biopic that deserves to get whacked is an offer Travolta should have refused. Insane testimonials from Gotti supporters at the end are as close as this s**tshow will ever get to good reviews.’
And a critic from Indie Wire wrote: ‘This is a strange thing to say about a notorious mob boss who was locked up for murder, but John Gotti deserved better.’
But Gotti bosses won’t stand for the bad remarks, and have urged their Twitter followers to make their own minds up about the film.
In its opening week the movie pulled in just $2.3 million, but despite Rotten Tomatoes’ rotten rating, almost 7000 people have given Gotti a 70 per cent rating.
Audiences loved Gotti but critics don’t want you to see it… The question is why??? Trust the people and see it for yourself! pic.twitter.com/K6a9jAO4UH
Taking to social media, the people behind Gotti’s official Twitter account acknowledged the bad reviews, but also pointed out the public’s rating.
In a trailer style video, the marketing team shared clips from the film and included the message: ‘Audiences loved Gotti … Critics put out the hit … Who Would You Trust More? Yourself or a Troll Behind a Keyboard.’
They also captioned the video with: ‘Audiences loved Gotti but critics don’t want you to see it … The question is why??? Trust the people and see it for yourself!’
But despite the bad reviews, Travolta seemed proud of his latest movie, as proved how extra he is by posing for pictures ahead of its premier.

When asked on his sexuality, Kirstie was adamant the man – who has been married to Kelly Preston since 1991 – was heterosexual.
On the question of whether she thought he was gay, she answered: ‘No I don’t. I mean, I know him pretty well — and I know the love…’
‘I will say it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, the hardest decision I’ve ever made because I was madly in love with him — we were fun and funny together,’ she continued, in an interview with The Sun.

2019

But it doesn’t stop there for the John Gotti inspired movie, as it was also nominated for Worst Picture alongside The Happytime Murders, Holmes & Watson, Robin Hood and Winchester.
This category set off Kelly Preston’s string of noms, as she too has been put up for Worst Supporting Actress along with Kellyanne Conway (As Herself) in Fahrenheit 11/9, Marcia Gay Harden in Fifty Shades Freed, Jaz Sinclair in Slender Man, and Melania Trump (As Herself) in Fahrenheit 11/9.
