Why we still love Pulp Fiction, 20 years on

The 2014 Cannes Film Festival has already seen a universally derided opening film, a host of ageing action stars driving a tank down the Croisette and a false-nosed Steve Carell being tipped for the Oscar.

But will the eventual winner of the Palme d’Or, the festival’s top prize, even be remembered in 20 years time?

We only ask because, two decades ago this month, the Palme d’Or was scooped by a film that would change cinema; Pulp Fiction.

Quentin Tarantino’s $8m foul-mouthed indie movie went on to gross over $200m, winning the best screenplay Oscar and shaking up a fusty Hollywood landscape.
